Merci Dogs is dedicated to the memory of our much loved Golden Retriever, Mavis who passed away in early 2025.

The term ‘merci’ is French for thank-you and historically a ‘mercy dog’ was a dog that acted in the capacity of a paramedic providing comfort, support and medical supplies to soldiers at time of war.

Mavis was our ultimate companion and best friend. Over the years she appeared at multiple Royal Shows; expos and public events where she demonstrated her awesome skills at retrieving and assisted thousands of children and adults alike to learn how to meet a dog and overcome their fear or uncertainty of dogs.

After Mavis passed away we started to think about the joy she had not only brought to us but all of those who met her and we thought about others who are seeking their perfect canine match.

With that in mind, Merci Dogs, was established leveraging our combined skills and 17 years experience in the canine world specialising in the development of dogs for purpose, enabling us to understand the specific requirements of individuals and families and the ability to match a dog to those needs.
